Meting* SWANNANOA CLUB HAS MEETING The December meeting of the Swannanoa Woman’s club was helil with Mrs. Roy Alexander, with Mrs. Ted Folsom, Mrs. W. A. Porter, and Mrs. R. D. Alex ander assistant hostesses. After the business session and reports from the book and garden clubs by Mrs. Folsom and Mrs. Carrie Porter, Ms. A. B. Whitt re ported on the blood bank to be established in Asheville soon. A nominating committee of Mrs. W. A. Porter, Mrs. Henry Frank lin. Mrs. Oliver Alexander, Mrs. Frank Davidson, and Mrs. Wendell Patton, was appointed. Christmas carols were sung by Mrs. Roy Alexander, Miss Margie Lishnemess, Ed Dupuy, and Rob ert Guy, accompanied by Mrs, Guy. Mr. Guy told of carols in other countries. Christmas punch and cookies were served. Mrs. J. B. Nichols, president of the club, presided at the punch bowl. Visitors at the meeting were Mrs. Bessie Carr, Black Moun tain, and Miss Marguerite Mc- Kenzie of Ridgecrest. ACTIVITIES CLUB HEAR MR. SEA WRIGHT Mrs. A. C. Garland entertained the Activities club at her home Tuesday, December 14 at 8 p. m. Richard Seawright who had charge of the program, gave an excellent talk on potted plants and other floral decorations in the home. He showed a number of beautiful and interesting ar rangements . A Christmas dinner party to be given at the Clubhouse Tuesday, December 28, was planned. Mrs. R. M. Crowder and Mrs. Robert Flee are in charge of arrange ments. Mrs. E. K. Brake and Mrs. Crowder will serve on the Brownie troop committee. Delightful refreshments were served to Mrs. L. C. Shive, Jr., Mrs. Crowder, Mrs. William El lington, Mrs. E. H. Knight, Mrs. Brake, Mrs. Robert Free, Mrs. Thad McDonald, and Mrs. B. E. Nordhielm. HATCH’N PATCH HAS CHRSTMAS PARTY Miss Muriel Higginbotham en tertained the members of the Hatch’n Patch club with a Christ mas party held at the home of her parents last Friday night. Bridge was played with prizes going to Mrs. George Dougherty, Mrs. Pat Randolph, and Mrs. Gnstova Brown. Little Janice Higginbotham, sister of the host ess, distributed the gifts for the Christmas exchange. At the end of the evening a dessert course was served to Mrs. Chester Sobol, Mrs. G. C. Raefield, Mrs. Carl Kerlee, Jr., Mrs. Ray McSwain, Mrs. Pete Earle, Miss Martha Cov in, Mrs. Brown, Mrs. Dougherty, and Mrs. Randolph. The club will not meet during the holidays and the next meeting will be held at the home of Mrs. Brown on January 7. MRS. HARVEY PRESSLEY HOSTESS TO CIRCLE Circle No. 2 of the Methodist church met Tuesday evening, De cember 14, at the home of Mrs. Harvey Pressley. Mrs. Douglas Jones was in charge of the pro gram. during which she led the group in singing of Christmas carols. After the meeting refresh ments were served to the follow ing: Mrs. J. P. Ashley, Mrs. J. N. Goodman, Mrs. Thad McDonald, Mrs. D. 0. McDougle. Miss Louise Simmons, Mrs. J. N. Wright, Mrs. Zeb Sawyer, Mrs. Finley Stepp. Mrs. D. P. Dinwiddie, Mrs. Fred Cook and Mrs. Beulah Beckwith. There were two visitors present, Mrs. Harry Hyder and Mrs. Pearl Smith. HOLMANS HOME Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Holman, Sr., and daughter Farnsworth have returned from Durham after at tending the funeral of Mrs. Hol man's sister, Mrs. L. A. Veazey. LEAVE FOR FLORIDA Mr. and Mrs. O. F. Blanken ship will leave December 24 for Miami and St. Petersburg, Fla., for two weeks. They also plan to go to New Orleans. The Ideal beauty shop will be closed until they return. HOME FOR HOLIDAYS Jane Chllison, student at Cullo whee, is spending the. holidays with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. G.
